Posted this on another board, then saw this one for battery life questions...

Not sure I saw any answers on the board but I am having a major issue with my Captivate.  AT&T coverage in my area is bad I got a 3G Microcell and while I get 4-5 bars now, my battery drains in hours.  I am only assuming that is the issue and actually just replaced the battery a few days ago and drained it bad.  My wife's Iphone is seeing similar issues... anyone have answers if there is a reason for that

Since the micro cell is basically a wireless router to make cell calls, the connection is constantly working, thus draining your battery. Unfortunately looks like you traded one problem for another....

My wife and I both have the Captivate and are experiencing the same problem with battery drain since installing the Microcell. The unit is never more than 25 feet away from the phones when at home and usually in the same room, so distance is not a problem. Also, I've noticed when charging, the phones getting unusually hot (we've had these phones for over a year and this is not normal behavior). In experiments to solve this problem I found that turning off Data for the phones completely eliminates the battery drain and the overheating while charging. Even if I turn on the Wifi radio on the phones the issues are not experienced like when Data is on.

In other forums I've noticed that only Captivate owners seem to be having this issue with Microcells. So basically there should be a fix for this somewhere but I haven't seen it. Both phones are running Froyo. Any ideas?
