Juice Defender all the way. Cheaper than an extended life battery (free), and has increased my battery life by at least the same as everyone else is seeing from the extended life batteries. A normal day's use (some calling, SMS, music and WiFi) leaves me with 70% when I go to bed. I used the GPS for a 20 minute trip as well the other day, and still had 60% at the end of the day. I can easily get 48 - 60 hours of normal use now. With the Pro version, you can supposedly save even more power through the customization of the schedule for radios. A very cool and awesome find HappyJuice Defender is awesome!

I Dont know with Tasker profiles and gingerbread 2.3.3 battery life for me can be 50+ with heavy usage even when Tasker is disabled.. if its normal usage w/ tasker i can go at least 75. But Tasker is by far superiror to JuiceDefender just not as user friendly. Its easy though as long as you have a basic understanding of functions.

Edit: Sorry by the way I am UVing 80% of the time.

My experience with smartphones is that they are naturally battery hogs.  What I have done is to turn off background syncing and anything that wants to run automatically in the background.  I can request mail manually or turn on my gps if needed.  I don't need facebook to be checked for updates when I've got the phone in my holster.   I also turn off the screen right after using it.  It's just something I've gotten used to doing.  So, with moderate use on the phone, it'll go 2 days but if I am a bit more active doing things with it then it'll go a full day no problem.  Usually, I hook it up to a charger on my desk anyway so when I'm ready to go, battery life isn't an issue.

Michont, by turning off everything and doing it all by hand, aren't you defeating half the purpose of having a "smart" phone? Seems like a lot of work (and a waste of time) to have a smart phone and then dumb it down!

I understand what you mean but tend to disagree.  It does what I want it to do but when I need it to do so.  The things I have turned off to save battery aren't needed while it's sitting on my desk at work or driving home.  When I want to receive email, I tell it to check or if I want to check facebook while watching TV then I tell it to do it.  There are different reasons why people need or want a smartphone.

And yet you both prove your point. Isn't the point of a smart phone to be able to do what the specific USER wants?
