After long waiting the froyo 2.2 i gave up and decided to go with the perception 5 rom..  needless to say, its super fast, energy saving, adobe flash 10.1, froyo 2.2, att bloatware is gone, lag fix, cool new Touchwiz GTG, old samsung keyboard, task manager, mobile AP wifi,
It was so quick and simple, me rooting for the first time, took 10 mins.

So i ask everyone.. why not just flash your rom to perception, and never even think about the samsung 2.2 update. Because whats the purpose now, since the conception has fixed everything.  Why would i want to go back to 2.2 update once its released?

Heres a step by step.

USE this http://www.ponack.net/how-to-flash-cognition-on-your-Captivate/  Cognition step by step will work the same for perception, just use the perception rom instead.

USE this http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848115&page=1  All the perception files are here.  You will have to manually add the samsung keyboard, and Touchwiz GTG, if you like touchwiz.. its simple.

THATS IT, ENJOY! It makes your Captivate be what it should be, AMAZING!

i agree with you i dont get why people are complaining so much its not like 2.2 official release is going to solve anything. Its just going to be as bloated and laggy maybe faster than 2.1 but the other roms that people are developing are even better than what att will give us with the 2.2 im running auxra and will probably try perception and cognition and maybe a couple of other to see which one i like best

Well I got to play with a Galaxy Tab today, which has Froyo on it, and man if thats the same Froyo we're getting than yeah I advise everyone to not even bother waiting.  It was laggier than our phones, And GPS was still broken.

Anyway wow Perception?  Haven't heard of that one.  Seems everyone on here's been flashing to Congnition or Axura... glad to hear its working for you but man that just makes me more confused on which one to go with Crying

Well, perception is from the same developer who compiled cog, which I'm running now. Plan to flash to perception build 6 tonight though.

Mejori- you are lucky! That's exactly how I bricked my phone! Beer plus messing with roms....disastrous results. I don't mess with my phone anymore unless I'm under the legal limit :-)

Do the custom roms include all the google apps?  I was reading yesturday that google sent a cease and desist letter to cyanogen for putting all the google apps in their custom firmware

hey guys im like really really new to this whole rooting/custom ROM thing so i had a few questions. 1. do i have to remove my sim card while rooting? 2. can i use this method http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/12/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-your-android-phone-after-any-one-click-root-methods/ to load Perception v7 onto my Captivate after using the OneClick root method? 3. and i read that add-ons such as the Swype and Samsung keyboards could be added on after flashing the custom ROM and how exactly is that done? and Finally, does anyone want to email me their copy of Axura since it was taken down from XDA  Crying i mean no disrespect to the dev's of Axura in any way but i just really want Axura lol. Thanks for any help!  Happy
