I'm trying to update to 2.3. My computer will recognize it but Kies Mini still says "Please connect your mobile phone". I've done a factory reset, made sure it was in Kies mode, uninstalled, and reinstalled multiple times, and I am really going crazy trying to update my phone. Samsung said there is no OTA update so I really need help connecting to Kies mini.

I'm having the same problem with mini kies. I think I had this problem before but can't remember how to correct it. Hopefully someone will give us a usable tip soon.

A few things that may be of some help:
  • Make sure you are attempting to do the update on a 32 bit system.  Kies Mini can have fits on a 64 bit system.
  • Put your phone in USB debugging mode before plugging the cable in.  Post back if you need directions on how to do that.

The frustrating thing about this whole problem is that my husband as an identical Captivate phone and the connection and upgrade went smoothly the first time. Even he couldn't get mine to work. After I set the phone back to factory and tried several other things, it lost the ability to do anything but make and receive calls. I am on my way to replace the phone with something else since this phone has already been replaced once under warranty, repaired once under warranty, and the simm card has been replaced several times. Can you say LEMON?!?

I solved my problem by replacing my Captivate with a Motorola Atrix 2. Way cool!

I had same problem and my phone went brick and than i found another driver did an emergency reset and somehow the upgrade went through after the reset and now Inhabe gingerbread working great ... But what a nightmare
This time was a 64 but windows 7

His upgrade will be android a big phone he likes for his big hands and he likes big texts so iPhone isn't big enough for him, which is fine by me lol I like both.
He can get the new galaxy phone when he feels the need lol now hea having fun w the updated software lol
