Ladies & Gentlemen,

Now that you have had a week to play with Android 2.2 you must have learned by now that 2.2 in itself does not allow bluetooth voice dialing.

Now, the questions did Samsung / AT&T also drop the ball on fixing the GPS?

I have had different Android ROMs on my phone, ranging from 2.1 - 2.2.1.  The GPS behavior has not changed much, it still loses satellites and as a result the accuracy regularly drops back to 3000 m.

What say you? Have we been duped with live wall papers, flash, and paid tethering?

I have no problems with the GPS, it seems to lock on and stay locked on.  Out of the box, it will not work, but I did apply the GPS fix that is either in the Help and Assistance or Tips and Tricks board, where I did the following:
changed it from standalone to MS Based
Non secured
changed the port number and the server to supl.google.com

It works like a champ now.

My GPS works fine, I get a 10/10 lock in 8 seconds indoors wiht 5m margin of error.
When I map it its right on. I've been using vlingo and can voice dial once the phone is opened.

Frankly I'm extremely pleased with my Captivate and every time I match it up with a any other kind of android the first comment is about the display.
I broke down and got an extened battery and I have no problem getting 18-30 hours on it depending on how much I use it.

Happy Camper here..

Prior to Froyo I tried every fix possible to make my GPS work to no avail.  Now it works great as long as I give it good access to the windows in my car.  I have noticed that if I have it too much to the center of the car the signal has a hard time locking on.  On the dash in its holder it locks on as bout as fast as my TomTom GPS.

I do noticed that using the GPS and Google Turn by Turn that it can completely drain my battery in only a few hours.  So now I plug in a car charger whenever I'm using the GPS in the car.

As long as I make sure that wifi is not working while I start GPS, it locks within seconds. E.g. if I start navigation in my garage/driveway, wifi will still be connected and 3g won't connect, causing GPS to be unable to get the satellite info from the cell tower, which means the lock will take a looooong time. If, on the other hand, I wait until I leave the driveway and wifi loses connection, 3g will come up with navigation, and I will have a lock in seconds.

I wrote to Ralph del la Vega, the President to at&t Mobility and told him about the problems with this phone.  His office contacted me yesterday and told me to go pick out any other comparable (read this: not a iPhone) and they will trade with me.  They are aware of the issue.  I have two HTC Inspire phones coming.

I had no interest in iPhones anyhow which seems to confuse them. :-)

Did you ever get the HTC phones you mentioned?  I contacted a local AT&T store and they never heard about such a plan.  I am still considering a change because of the bluetooth issue but laziness has prevailed.  Need to research the issue further.  Thanks.

I had the phones about three months.

There is no "plan" to do this. I complaing to the president of at&t Mobility and he agreed to swap phones.

I have had the HTC Inspire phones for a few months now and they are, bar none, the best phones I have ever used.  I now waiting a 10" HTC tablet.  They have a 7" but I want a bigger one.
