I have had my Captivate since November and I love it.  Over the last week though it has started freezing.  Undecided At first it was just like once a day, I would take my battery out and put it back and it would be fine.  Now it is every five minutes and every time I have to take my battery out and restart...I have tried everything I know to fix it that could be the problem and am having no luck.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If there is an app that is set to update every 5 minutes, that might be locking it up. You can try going into your application list and clearing out the caches for your apps....

I was having the same problem this morning.  I think i tracked it down to the new update of Go Laucher EX.  I uninstalled the update, restored an older version from Titanium backup, and now the phone doesn't have those issues - well, at least in the last 12 hours.  I think over on XDA there have been a few people posting that they've had horrendous battery usage with the latest update.

Ok, so after clearing all of the cache' and uninstalling all un-needed/wanted apps.  My phone was still freezing...Today it totally crapped out.  froze completly  turned it off/then back on and now it just shows the start up Galaxy screen  then it freezes.  The phone becomes extremely hot.  Going through the manufactury warranty to get a "referbished phone" gonna take 7 days to get so now I am out of a phone....I should have taken care of this days ago when it was still happening....I love my Captivate but in the future I will re-think getting a phone through samsung-they have very poor customer service to me and the lady on the phone sounded like she woke up in a bad mood and was taking it out on me.  ABSOLUTLY  FRUSTRATED!!!

Sounds like a memory issue.. You dont have any apps like Automatic Task Killer installed do you? I know it sounds like an app like that should be helping but it could also be the problem.. That or try moving some of your apps to the sd card..
