i had used this forum to answer some of my other questions about my captivate but i couldnt find anything on the web about my current problems. i think it will be easiest if i tell exactly what i did to my phone. i would post a pic of the inside of my phone but ive already closed it up and i dont want to open it again until i know i can fix it.
about a week ago my power button started malfunctioning. i found out this was a common problem and went to the ATT store. my warranty expired a month ago
so there was nothing they could do. i figured i could prob fix it myself so i used a guide i found on here to take my phone apart and shoot some CRC QD electronics cleaner on my power button. when i took it apart i forgot to take out the sim and sd so when i pulled it the little tray that holds them both came out as well
i figured out where to put the little ribbon thing back in but it was a very loose fit. when i got it all back together the power button issue was not fixed except maybe just a little. my phone no longer reads my sim or sd. and for whatever reason the speaker doesnt play
i don't know if the headphone jack still works i just took out the battery i was so mad and haven't tried it again.
i was wondering if somebody could walk me through fixing my sim/sd tray problem because at this point i would be more than happy to walk away from this with a functioning phone. also is it possible that some of the electronics cleaner could have gotten on the speaker and caused it to stop working? really tho i could care less as long as the sim/sd cards work cuz my contract isn't up until July. any help would be appreciated Thanks
UPDATE: headphone jack is working fine so its just the speaker thats broken. my lock/power button fix turned out to be succesful a day later. i would really appreciate if some one could just explain the proccess of repairing my sim/sd holder soon or im gonna have to buy my friends old blackberry torch. Thanks
