Hi all.. I have had a Captivate for almost two weeks, well today is the first day I tried to shoot video with the camera and I keep getting this error message that says "Warning: Recording Failed".(pic following)I have tried setting it to the phone's memory and my personal SD Card, same thing. I was wondering if anyone knows why and could help fix this issue. Thanks in advance for any information.
The phone is Android 2.2, and is not rooted. I didn't know how to screen cap so I took a pic using another phone.

Hmm, seems I fixed it!   I turned phone off, removed battery, and SD card.  When I put it back together and turned it on, video now works.   mods please remove this post, thanks.

GLad to hear you got it fixed.  I'll leave the thread up in case someone else runs into your similar problem.  It will at least give them somewhere to start!

If you are recording to an external mini SD card, the card has to be a "high speed" card, if not your Captivate will not record to it.  Set your camcorder to record to the internal card then manually transfer to the external card.  I learned this the hard way, the manual has one little sentance about this.

The same thing happened to me so I tried changing the camera to record video to the phone rather than the
Card.  I got the same message.  However, the problem is intermittent.  Sometimes it works,  sometimes it doesn't.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Yep, same problem here.
This is my second phone and the first one never did this.
This one didn't do it for months of recording which leads me to believe something has changed during that time.  Maybe an app or setting.

It is definitely intermittent.  But none of these "fixes" have worked for me. Including twitter removal.

(on a paranoid side note...This phone seems strangely different than my first captivate.  I don't know if is OS difference or hardware.  But I'm not the only one!  My boss also has had several captivates over past 2 years and the latest ones suck (comparatively) I complained about all the "glitches" with my first one.  Now I long for it)

Anyway, doing a soft reset has worked for me.
Its too bad though, when you want to capture a vid who has time for that?  It already takes a minute to rec when operational (by then the kodak moment has passed ;(

Not really complaining...it is just a sad lesson.

Hope we can figure it out.

In a previous thread, someone suggested uninstalling twitter as a way to solve this issue.  I happened to have Twitter, but I didn't see how that could affect the video.  Well, I tried it and I haven't had that problem since.  Or you might just wait until Gingerbread is released and hope that issue is gone.  You might have to wait forever though...
