best free task killer app

hi again Guys,

would you please advise on which free app is the best to run the background and kill unused/inactive apps/services (or anything that is unused but still eating up my data)

Best? "Advanced Task Killer", it is in the "Market". I've used it since early autumn on my Captivate S .

Ed. Also check the thread "Recomended Applications For Your Captivate". It is 4 or 5 threads above your (this) thread and read the postings of numerous people and ATK will show up. Many other great recommends are posted there too. Great reading!

advanced task killer is great unless you are using froyo then it dont work well at all but for 2.1 works GREAT

if you don't mind me asking...what is Froyo?? i am VERY new to this Happy

also, i am mainly needing this app because my phone is eating up so much data and i donno what's causing that...so i want something to kill anything running in the background that i don't know of (not using).

so when i use ATK, do i need any specific setting to help with this?

right now you are running 2.1 android froyo is just another way of saying 2.2 android

with atk after you install it the program should be good to go either set the program to kill tasks every once in a while or whenever you unlock the screen or place the widget on your home screen to do it manually
