I ended up getting my Captivate replaced due to it frequently shutting off at random, the replacement is working fine, but the screen is a bit more "dull" to my eyes...the whites are cool and bluish and not bright and crisp like my previous phone had.

If this was my first phone I'd probably be really happy with it, but after spending a few weeks with my first phone...I liked its screen much better...colors actually "pop" a little too much with this one and things just dont look natural, anyone else noticed this?

Did you check the brightness setting?  May just be something that simple.

Like MommehK said, it's probably just brightness. I doubt samsung manufactures different looking Super AMOLED screens, it'd just take more money and time. I'm sure it's just a brightness setting.

Bringing this back up...

My brother just got a new Captivate on Sunday (The recent ATT update bricked his phone 2 weeks ago..got a new one..did it again Sunday...same thing.  Long story short the Support Center told us to not update our phones).

As I was using his phone to set up his settings I noticed the screen seemed different so I put mine right next to his.  His screen has more "color" and is actually brighter than mine..auto brightness on or manually setting it to the same.

Anyone else able to compare two screens together?

I have two Cappys in the house here, will check it when I can.

Just had another thought:  may be difference in production batches?  I'm sure display components come from 3rd party suppliers, so if something in the inner workings is from a different batch, it might could affect output.

Yeah that is a possibility with just different batches.  His screen is way brighter than mine  Undecided
