using phone while charging

whenever i plug my phone to charge it always goes to the blue n black screen with the usb cable that says connected and it wont let me use the phone. is their anyway to still use the phone while its charging like to txt or any of the apps?!??!?!

I had this same issue - it's a simple problem of not having your charging cable fully engaged in the phone. Make sure the little slider door on the phone is all the way open - it should click. If the cable doesn't get fully engaged, it will think it is a usb connection - not a charging cable (and I'm guessing it won't really charge).

There is a setting to have the device ask what you want it to do each time you plug the device into a computer. It is located in <Settings><Applications><USB Settings> select "Ask on connection".

When you plug the device into a PC, a screen should appear that has a list of options. When I want to use the device while plugged into a PC, I select Mass Storage device. This should allow you to continue to use the device.

Please not, your PC will see the phone as a USB drive, on some machines this is successful, while on others it is not. However even if it is not successful on the PC side, the device will still charge, and the device is usable.

you can also turn on debugging mode and it will let you use the phone like normal.

yes it does if you are in the ask for which connection but being is mass storage mode also allows you to still use the phone which i like a lot bc with my impression you couldnt do anything while in mass storage

you could do anything on the iphone 4 either which always pissed me off, i could do that on the incite n pure that o had before it Angry

My other solution (especially if you owned an incite):

I have my old Incite USB cable at the office; it uses the same USB connector as the Captivate. The incite cable will charge the Captivate just fine. The connector, however does not seat as well as samsung's USB cable. Using the incite cable, I am able to charge and use the device at the same time.

thats probably because it doesnt have the same pin connection on the inside of the cable so it has the right connection to charge it but not to connect to the computer
