Android keyboard issue- can't hit backspace in portrait

I have very annoying issue with build-in Android keyboard as well as some third party keyboards in portrait mode- when I tap backspace button, it outputs either as "l" char (above of backspace) or interprets my hit as an Enter or Search (one below). Also some other characters from the third row give me troubles. Everything is fine in landscape and/or if I use Samsung keyboard(may be because it has spaces between letters?). Does anybody have the same issue?
I am starting to think that it may be factory screen calibration problem and AFAIK I should return my phone.   

I downloaded a free application called Touch Test and it is definitely the screen problem! About a 1 cm wide stripe located exactly when 3d row letters located is unresponsive to touches. Touches are registered on either side of this dead zone. Can somebody download this app and confirm that there is no such issue on their screen?
