Hey, there, I just got my Captivate last night (switching from iPhone 3gs) and I'm having issues already.  I turned the WiFi on to use at home, but now that I'm at work and have no WiFi I'm not getting any internet connection at all.  I am able to make calls still, and I have all 5 bars showing.  Can someone please please please help me with this??

Also, I haven't figured out how to get my Yahoo email to show up on my phone, does anyone have a fix for that as well?

Thanks in advance for your help  Big Grin

Let me make sure I am understanding you correctly:  When you are at home, you use a wifi connection for internet on your device.  However, when you are at work, you do not have wifi access, and must use 3g data connection for internet.  The problem is you can not get a 3g connection.

Easy Fix:  Make sure your wifi on your phone is off.  By default this device can do wifi or 3g, not both at the same time.

Other Possibility:  (Happens to me) when Having wifi on for an long period of time, and the turning it off sometimes my 3g radio does not reactivate.  I usually have to restart the phone.

I hope this helps.

Email:

You should be able to tap on the email icon at the bottom of the screen, and follow the setup steps.  Is that not working properly?

Not sure about the yahoo email. I tried to log on using the phones mail system and I couldn't. I just ended up downloading a yahoo mail app from the market

This did not help, but thanks for trying.  I did online chat with Samsung and they had me do a soft reset (which did absolutely no good) and told me to go to at&t.

Am I understanding you correctly, each time I want to use wifi, I'm going to have to turn it on, then when I'm no longer in a wifi area I'll have to turn it off???  That seems pretty inconvenient to me, my iPhone would just switch between the two, going back to 3g as soon as wifi was no longer available.

Guess I get to make a trip to the at&t store over lunch lol.

It might be a defect in that phone.

I use wifi in hot spots or when available and when im not around wifi my phone automatically switches back to 3g. (never had to turn off and turn back on to get back to 3g)

As for the yahoo mail set up, Aztx was right. The first time you go to the email icon on your phone it should ask you what email service you want to use and have you place your email address there so you can start getting your emails.

Hopefully someone at AT&T will help you with these options or replace the phone and help you set it up.

Welcome to the forum I hope you get your problems fixed and come back here for more Info and help and arent discouraged by these problems.

This is a good phone. Please let us know how it worked out.

hey, thanks to all that helped, but the issue has been resolved.  Apparently, when I put in my order for the new phone, my data services didn't transfer so I flat out just didn't have it available.  Thankfully I was able to call customer service and get my unlimited data plan back with very little hassle.  I just didn't think to check my actual services because, silly me, I thought the rep had taken care of it.

thanks again Happy

well, I  did the whole order and checkout thing online, and I was chatting with a rep online, I specifically asked her if there was anything else I needed to do with my order and she said it looked fine.  LAME.  Oh well it's fixed now Happy

Oh and on the yahoo mail issue, I was also able to get that resolved, I think it wasn't linking up because of the lack of data package, but I'm not sure on that.
