I am unable to use Swype feature. I have it selected in Settings but it no longer appears when I input text. This happened after upgrading to 2.2. Please help--I miss it.

i had the same problem. I feel your pain. Thats why I am glad I know how to help you!
Go to http://swypeinc.com/ and sign up to be a beta tester. Then you can download and install the most current beta version, which is even newer than the one currently on the captivate!

There, doesnt that make you feel better?  Happy

Sorry it doesn't Crying...I signed up for the beta but my ATT will not allow installation of apps that did not come from Android Market.  This is the message I received when I tried to install the app "For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from Android Market."

Do you have anymore suggestions?

Did you try loading it via Sideload Wonder Machine?  It will get around the AT&T junk about installing apps from a 3rd party source outside the market.

Maybe I should put something witty here!

Actually, I went to the Swype Beta forum and it states that Swype 3.0 cannot be installed on a phone that has a factory installation--that it will not work. Swype has to be updated by ATT and Swype has sent the update to ATT and they have to initiate the update to the system. ATT has not done this yet.

So it looks like my phone stays as is until ATT gets around to the update.

I was running a custom rom when I re-installed swype. The custom rom allowed me to do third party install. Didnt think about that sorry.

If AT&T has the upgrade, maybe you could try going to a AT&T store. They migfht be able to help you out.

You should be able to do the sideload wonder machine route though....
