My contacts don't sync with my gps unit in my car .....??? Any suggestions ...th

Hi Just got this baby 2 days ago and still haven't browsed thru all its features, maybe I am missing something...hence need some expert advise. The most common thing which I need badly is to sync my contact list from my phone to my Pioneer gps nav unit in my suv.I have a feature in my phone settings in my gps ...Phone Transfer....when i touch that button it just transfers the default AT & T contacts from my contact list from my phone and not my personal contacts which i typed in my phone .....Seems wierd, maybe I am missing some feature to click or check in the phone....My gps unit is fine and has updated BT software...I dont think it will be a problem and also it is taking AT & T contacts...and previously it had all of my Iphone contacts.....Please help...any tiny suggestion would be of gr8 help to me....

Thanks for the info, but being new to this handset, my knowledge is a bit limited, still figuring out the folders, the default contacts should be in the phone for ATT, but my personal contacts are both in the sim and the phone..... also is there a folder to verify where the contacts are saved in my handset when i connect to the usb cable.....??

My contacts are on the phone.  I could not sync with the gps in te car with android 2.1.  Worked perfect with 2.2
