So i got my Captivate about 2 days ago and had and old SD card from another phone. the card had songs on it already. when my friend called me the ringtone was one of the songs and the notification of the voicemail was another song from the SD card. i did not set this and if you look in settings it is not set for those songs to do that. my question is, how is it happening and how can i assign those songs to my ringtone or notification tone? where and how can i access these songs from my phone?

Thanks

Not quite sure if I understand what the issue is but here's what I am reading:

You have ringtones (not full songs) on the sd card and want to set them as ringtones on your Captivate.  But you can't find them as ringtones/notification tones for the calls/messages?  On the right track so far?

If so, check here:

If not, please clarify and we'll figure out what to do.

i'm trying to make them ringtones. some were full songs that started going off when my friend called me. i don't know how or why. i looked in the settings and nothing was highlighted for voice ringtone. i played around, wiped the external SD card, cause they were all old songs (not ringtones). i went on a sight for ringtones but they are mp3s and that worked once. unfortunately played around more and lost it again.

so i don't know why the songs were coming up when phone rang when they weren't selected and then why they weren't coming up.
