Hi,

I've owned my Captivate for about a month now, I am on my third phone currently.  My first one bricked when I tried to get the GPS update pushed out by ATT... Lesson learned: Don't try to update your phone unless or until you have a very good G3 connection don't attempt with anything less... My second phone I had replaced because it would randomly power down, typically in the first 10% of the battery charge, after it would reach about 90% or lower it would stay on fine? Yesterday, I dropped my perfect, trouble free, awesome Captivate into the toilet...

I immediately removed the battery, the sim card & the SD card, and put dried it out the best I could without removing any screws, I shook the phone as hard as I could trying to force the water out of it... This morning I went to the grocery store and purchased a container of silica cat litter, wrapped my phone in a paper towel and placed the phone in the middle of the silica cat litter???

I'm beginning to believe God does not want me to own this phone? Any guesses as to how my story will end?
Try putting it in a bag of rice zip lock bag for a few days or longer

Ok, this is an old thread, but for those who have had a phone go for a swim...  If the white dots turn pink or red, you can turn them white again with a drop of bleach.  I dunked my phone while on a trip to hawaii, so I didn't have access to rice and cheesecloth, etc. I also really needed a phone, so I opened it up and let it air dry for a couple hours. It powered up, but kept shutting off.  By the time I got home it wouldn't go past the startup screen. I bleached the dots - one on the battery, one in the compartment next to the battery -   and took it to the repair center. They replaced the phone no questions asked. Now if they take the phone apart and find another dot inside, or oxidation (green stuff) on the copper connectors you're sol, but it's worth a shot. Just carefully put a drop of bleach on the dot, wait 2 minutes, carefully dab dry. Allow to air dry thoroughly.
