i was thinking if i should get a galaxy tablet becuase the screen is great for ereading and watching movies and such but wondering if it's more of a hassle since it's pretty much similar as the Captivate only larger (but cant make calls.. or i could be wrong).

anyhow, anyhow thought of getting it too and anyone have it also and working out good ? in my opinion it seems better then the ipad.. i played with the ipad and galaxy and the ipad was little to big for me while the 7 inch galaxy seemed just right... (galaxy tab amole screen is superb also)..

Just another toy in the line of toys to be had.

I would have no benefit from one honestly, because of how dependent I am upon my laptop, and the keyboard functionality (accountant -- need my numeric keypad!).  Hubby mentioned interest in one, because it would actually be more convenient for him to use (and easier to see versus his netbook).

Not getting anything tied down to a network, that's for sure.  I'll wait a few generations to see the kinks ironed out first before considering one.

I was looking at one at Best Buy the other day.  Really cool but really, I just have no use for one.

In my opinion, they are rather useless for individuals.  If I want an e-reader I want something with a simple monochrome screen (like a real book) that can run for days on a single charge.  If I wanna watch movies I want as close to theater as possible, same for gaming.  If I want a social media hub I have my phone which is more the able to perform any task related to the social scene, even "dumbphones" can do almost all that now a days.  For everything else I have my notebook PC.

I see them a great tools for businesses and companies to make consumer interaction more fluid and seamless.  Some examples would be restaurants where you order your meal via tablet/pad; factories having booths to fully explain what their product is use for.
Things where a lot of info has to be presented in a very limited space.  It can be something to hand out at the beginning of a tour that pops up extra info or activities when the group reaches specific places or item of interest, and then collected at the end.

It's a great idea for certain circumstance but just not enough to warrant shelling out that amount of cash. For a larger screen one can always get the adapter cord that connects video/audio to the RCA inputs on a television.

When Apple first announced the iPad I thought it was the dumbest device ever.  An Oversized iPod touch that costs more than a laptop yet has no optical drive, no hard drive, no SD card slot, no flash support, etc, I thought the thing was going to be a surefire bust.  Boy was I ever wrong.

A year later I have warmed up to Tablets a bit.  I do think they are the perfect laptop for someone who doesn't need a laptop.  That being said the price is still too high, and IMO the Galaxy S Tablet just sucks.  Its too rinky dink in size compared to an Ipad, and while the hardware is great for our phones, it sucks on that high resolution.  I played with one at best buy and it was real laggy.  I did however get a chance to play with a Motorola Xoom and it is the real deal, and the first Android Tablet I've seen that could really box with the iPad.  Sure iPad will still win in the Apps area, but the Xoom has a nicer UI imo and definitely better web browsing since Flash is included!

Still the prices are just outrageous.  If you really want an Android Tablet your best bet is to go get a Barnes and noble nook color, and root it, and put a custom rom on it.  Sure it won't have as many features as the Xoom or Galaxy Tab, but it'll cost a LOT less!

LOL rooting a Nook Color? Never thought of that in a million years...

I just saw a news article today (headline scanning, didn't read it) where a small charter company somewhere in the US has asked for FAA approval of using an iPad for flight charts instead of the archaic paper versions.  Of course the first comment made was "would it be too much of a distraction"...

I also was interested in the Tab for the larger screen but after reading enough reviews indicating that it sucks I began to look at the iPad and Android tablets again. The lower cost Android tablets are improving but have a little ways to go to meet my expectations. Now I have picked up an iPad from a seller on Craigslist for $350. So far, satisfied!

yeah reviews haven't been great on the Tab, and the hardware isn't enough for the higher res.  Also you figure it's pricing is the same as the Ipad and thats with a smaller screen and reduced performance.

As for the Nook color, yeah its actually becoming popular with the android modding market, in fact it almost seems more people buy it to get a modified android tablet than they do for an e-reader.
