I use my phone for simple day to day communications with family & friends, check the weather....that sort of thing. When I saw the solution for the random shutdown issue I was thrilled as my phone has begun to shutdown frequently. What's the point of having a multitasking device when it can't stay awake long enough to wake me up in the morning.

"Captivate Auto-Shutdown DEATH Solution Fix"

I found this in the rooting/and other stuff I don't understand the thread & the video left me feeling old & incompetent. (well, I am...anyway).
I can't get my phone to link up with my computer, I am clueless as to how to download/install this fix.
Is there a step by step instruction page, the video is a bit advanced for me.
I have only recently begun to have the shutdown issue, other than that the phone works fine for my needs.

I called AT&T and they opened my account to allow for an upgrade. (A year early)
Radio shack is offering to buy back my Captivate & I'm considering going with the Motorola Atrix.  Radio shack also offers a warranty, buy back/exchange program that is better than AT&T's.

I just don't know what to do. The Atrix does have some pretty nice features, but then again so did the Captivate, I just don't want to get taken again.

Advice?
