i have been reading up on the rooting and backup stuff....but ive seen several websites and ect. about rooting and everywhere its coming up with mix reviews or problems or downright F-ups and i really dont wanna screw up my phone...is there any real benifit to doing this other than getting rid of bloatware ...thanks
I was pretty much the same as you. Since I didn't experience all the issues alot of cappy owners did, I held off. After 2.2 was deployed, I found that my cappy had some random shutdowns. I did research on that issue and found that I could install an app called setcpu, but would have to root. Still weary I really did some deep research on the best method. I used SuperOneClick and it was extremely easy. Once rooted I loaded titanium backed everything up and then loaded setcpu.. First thing I noticed was that my cappy was screaming fast. 2nd after setcpu was running, I haven't had one instance of random deaths.
