you do not need to be rooted to flash, this is the official update, it is not beta just needs a lagfix...again, gps problems are coming from people who had custom roms and didn't flash stock.

All I can say is it updated flawlessly.  I downloaded last night and got around to doing the update just now.  It took all of under 4 minutes from start to finish.  FYI, I had used ODIN3 a few days ago to reset to stock so my phone had NO root.  OK, off to play with my new toys and get all my apps back.

Yep you can use the voice button to send a text or email now.

send text *person name* *message to them*, its pretty slick. I had an app for that before but google one now seems to work better

Punisher at what step are you having problems?

Are you trying to install the base froyo rom or Cognition 2.2. I would suggest cognition because it will be rooted, unbloated, and lagfixed all in one.

I'm not sure what your set-up is prior to Froyo but have you tried resetting back to stock (if you are not already) then updating to Froyo?  The update should only take 5 min or so each.  I'm thinking something in your current set-up is keeping the update from installing.

I know, prolly not a ton of help but it was my thoughts.

well i was trying to install it the first night it came out guess ill download cog 2.2 bc i dont want the bloatware

twin thanks for the thought i had the same idea but didnt really want to do it but ill just make a backup of my stuff and install back to stock and see what that does thanks for the help though very much appreciated guys let you know what happens later

Just to be completely sure, this does not get rid of settings and contacts?  Will I have to download wallpapers again, custom ringtones and what not?
All I have to worry about are my apps? (which I don't care for really).

Grrr.  I got an e-mail that my Square Reader is in the mail today.  For those that don't know, Squareup is a service to lets you take credit cards over your phone with their free card reader.  Well, I was excited that my reader is finally arriving.  So, I went to the Marketplace to get the app again and wouldn't ya know, it doesn't show?!!!  Used my wifes 2.1 and found it right where it should be.  But is it there on my nice, fast, sleek 2.2?  Noooooooo!  Damn, now what.

you go back to 2.1 until the update is officially out and squareup supports 2.2 or get your money back and buy it when it comes out for 2.2

Well, it's free so no loss there.  I guess I'm just whining cause I want to play with all my toys at once, lol.
