Stupid question... Are you saying you can have Kies and Kies-Mini installed on your computer at the same time?  Use Full Kies to sync contacts and Kies Mini to obtain updates?  Thanks.

A few questions.
A) what is the most current OS the Captivate can physically support?
B) what OS do other galaxy s phones currently have (officially)?
C) Where did at&t or Samsung actually say this phone would have 2.2 ?

I am also noticing today that while the phone has 512 ram onboard, under 2.1 it can only utilize 256????
That is total BS. Deceptive advertising.

If someone can find the ad where one of them said they would release it then I second that.

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-I897ZKAATT

The best I found was this. It is on the page but does not specifically say that it will be released, yet it does say that the phone is upgradeable to 2.2

Galaxy S with Android 2.1 OS
Do you want the whole world in your hands? How about the whole universe? Tens of thousands of apps populate Android Market -- everything from popular games to productivity tools to constellation maps. Powered by the latest Android platform (and upgradeable to 2.2), this phone fully integrates with Google Mobile Services. You're now at one with your Gmail account, Google Maps, YouTube videos and more

Also, I just found this on the Samsung Mobile U.S. Twitter:
@avongauss Aaron, we are working on Froyo update for our US Galaxy S phones. It will be available this year.

Well sitting here cooking my turkey.

Thought I would check via Mini Kies, another update on it. And it still will not even connect to the phone still.  Evil

Tried full version of Kies, another update on it, still won't connect to the phone.
Tried via ota, won't connect to AT&T..   Crying

Gee thought we would of at least gotten a Thanksgiving present form Samsung/AT&T and gotten our promised 2.2v...  Angry

Was at the mall yesterday. Asked the fella in the AT&T store and he was of no help what so ever. I asked him and he said when it is available, it will show on the phone as an available update. I asked if he has heard of any cappy with it and he said "no". Asked if it would matter if my phone is rooted and he just acted like I asked to date his sister. No help at all. Quite disappointing.
The kid I talked to a couple weeks ago was at least cooperative and knew what I was talking about when I asked about rooting. He had a couple of suggestions but they didn't help. He also told me he has an after market ram and it is similar to Froyo. He also mentioned that I may have to "un-root" my phone in order to have 2.2 become available to me.
Any thoughts???
