OMG....I waited a long time for the AT&T rollout of Gingerbread and what a mistake!    I'm having huge lagging issues!   And ridiculous error messages! ... if I see another "force close" I'm gonna throw my phone into the lake behind my house.    Even when making a phonecall, I press the numbers and they lag also!    Speakerphone lags!   I'm hating on my phone I once loved!

I read somewhere that those of us that upgraded from Froyo to Gingerbread have the pleasure of all of these leftover Froyo files still installed that are screwing the phone up.

Is there an app that can get rid of the leftover Froyo files or perhaps someone can tell me how to get rid of Gingerbread and roll it back?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Captivators,

I am also having all the issues like the person above.  Everything is lagging. Going to speaker phone, answering the phone, hanging up, volume up or down, EVERYTHING.

What can we do?  And please don't tell me to wipe phone clean.

Well, you probably don't want to hear this:  I did a factory reset, after backing up my internal SD to my laptop.  I made a list of my apps, just in case (I only have free apps).

Removed the micro-SD and SIM card then did the factory reset.  Gingerbread was still there.

I reloaded my SIM, no problems.  Note:  I keep the SIM with main contacts, I tried to copy the additional phone numbers and addresses to the SIM but that did not work.  I do have to reload all that information.
I copy/paste my SD card from the laptop to the Captivate SD and had all my photos and videos.
Last, I logged into the App store and downloaded my apps.

48 hours and no problems.  No lag.  No force close.  Benchmark scores faster.

I'm glad I did the reset.  Been playing with the phone so I'm not sure how battery life is.

Overall, the factory reset worked for me.

I am not having this issue mine is running great, actually better after the update. If the problem is leftover files then a factory reset is what I would do if I had this issue. I would opt for a factory reset before messing with reverting back.

I didn't want to do a factory reset because of the obvious reasons, but I just did.     When the phone turned back on, first thing I got was the Tethering Manager error.   Oy Vey.    Gingerbread is an epic failure.
