Sitting in my home office, my phone is less than a foot away from the window (but 6 feet from the edge of the building since window is on a balcony) -- GPS "blue-dotted" my loc in about 7 seconds.

Worked. Gps locked in less than 30 seconds. I would say probably more like 10-15 seconds. Used navigation with no problems

well first of all im just going to point out to you is that you need to give a better description on what we are voting about bc i interpreted it as were you able to download the update but i know for a fact that it is about the GPS problem

SO by going by how i interpreted it which is how i voted yes it worked for me and installed great!

BUT my gps still did not work but found a workaround on the XDA site which i posted in the GPS sticky which now i can connect in seconds unless if im in my basement then a little bit longer

If you go to the GPS Fix topic in the other section i have posted a program that another user posted in there on the first post that will let you get back in until someone finds the new key

Give it a little bit to connect in the google maps like 10min and see and then exit out when it connects and after that it should connect faster

I went Geocaching with my friends today for the first time. We used the turn-by-turn directions it generated from the application(but it still used google maps turn by turn)

It was on top of me when I was on a road, and a bit off when I was around a building or anything of that sort. The turn by turn worked perfectly.

OK here goes, I had a rooted phone removed Bloatware tried to do the update and it says it failed though the versions changed and also the build. I wasn't comfortable with the update and thought it might be the root.  I took the phone back since I was still under 30 days and said the update screwed it up and failed. They replaced the phone, I got a good update. I tried maps going 8 miles away, as it loaded I had to D/L the speech piece. At that point she told me where I had to go and took me there without interruption.  I used it on the return trip and it worked well again.  Oh and Kies really sucks !

Got Google maps to find where I am finally. However when I actually tried driving with navigator, it failed miserably. It just kept loosing signal and would have me jumping all over the place.

Where were you driving?  How much interference was around?  Downtown around buildings or flat open countryside?

Mine seems to work OK, but I leave it off as it can suck the battery down in hours.  Sad

Had my Captivate for almost a week now. used the turn by turn a couple of times when i went to austin over the weekend. worked great there. took about 30-45 seconds to generate route and my location. just checked google maps sitting in my apt. took about 5-10 seconds to tell me my location pretty freakin accurate. im also on 1st floor of 3 story. No gps problems here.  Happy
