Captivators,

I updated my phone last week and prior to the upgrade when I connected the phone to my computer a screen would pop up on the phone giving me four options including, I think, Mass Storage.  Once selected, I could browse my phone under explorer and move photos and the like.  Since I have done the upgrade, that screen no longer appears.  My computer shows the phone is attached, the computer and phone beeps when connected/unconnected.  I have even tried turning the phone off and on, and un-mounting the SD Card.  Nothing seems to work.  I can not see the phone and its directory any longer on my explorer (XP).

What am I missing here?    Undecided

I did NOT root the phone and I'm NOT running Kies.

Just to check:  Under settings and Applications, tap on USB settings and make sure "Ask on connection" is selected.  That is the setting that gives you the options when you connect your device via USB to PC.

I have Kies (use it to sync Outlook contacts) and prior to the update, I was able to connect to Win 7 as a mass storage device or using Kies connection.  I updated Kies and installed the phone update (through Kies Mini since AT&T hasn't gotten me the update yet and it wouldn't update through Kies non-mini).

Now I can't connect the phone to the PC.  When I connect, the phone beeps.  I select Kies(Firmware Update) on the phone and nothing happens.

If I select Mass Storage on the phone at connection, Kies on the PC sees the device but then tells me to reconnect in Kies mode.

I removed Kies entirely and tried connecting as a mass storage device.  The two removable drives show up on Windows but when I click them, it tells me to mount the device.

This is Windows 7 64-bit with latest patches.

Any help is appreciated.

Same happened to me with Windows Vista. I've tried almost everything without any success. My computer has dual boot from Linux and there  I was able to access to the device through USB.
I have an older version of Kies, mi next step would be uninstall the latest and install the previous one.
Keep you posted

I ended up doing exactly that.  I uninstalled the new Keis and re-installed the older version.  Connection worked fine then.  No more updates to Keis for me until I have to.
