I have a Samsung Captivate and it stopped connecting to the network.  It won't receive or make calls, texts, connect to at&t internet.  I called at&t and since the water damage indicator had changed colors they automatically said that was the problem even though it was never in water to my knowledge.  I did the whole rice in the ziploc bag thing for a day.  If I try to call out or connect to internet it just says "Data network not detected".  It turns on fine and I even did a complete reset on the phone.  It will connect to wifi without a problem just nothing else.  Any help?!

Well if their certain they think its because of water damage at that store.. take a q-tip with some bleach and dab it on the water damage indicator stickers inside the battery of the phone and turn them from red to white again then try taking it to another at&t store and see if they will do something about it.. just dont mention the water damage.

You might try going to a store and getting them to replace your SIM card to see if that would help.

This is a known problem that has AT&T and Samsung pointing fingers at each other. I went through a week of trying to get either one to fix it and neither one could do it. In that time my warranty expired and AT&T would not replace the phone.

No joke, the problem happend 3 days before my warranty expired, Two days on the phone
for an hour each day, one trip into the store, left with a referral to the Warranty facility and after 2 hours there their response was:

Samsung is aware if this issue but has no resolution. Therefore you can either buy a new phone or send it to them to see if they can resolve the problem.
Samsung told me that AT&T probably made network changes that they are not aware of (BS) and they if they found the phone damaged by water or abuse there will be a charge, or they will not repair it.

Funny, the phone connects fine to wireless networks, blue tooth etc just not the AT&T data network.

This was my 3rd Samsung phone, all 3 have filed or had issues about the time the new model came out.

Blackjack
Eternity
Captivate

I'm tired of replacing my phone because Samsung fails to support their product once a updated model is released.

Simple fix, Buy an I-phone!
